What is the Coverage Ranker?
The AI Coverage Ranker is part of BFF’s BFFOrchestrator (AI Brain). When someone requests time off, it automatically analyzes your team and ranks potential replacements for each affected task.
How Ranking Works
The AI evaluates three primary factors:
1. Training Completion (High Weight)
Has the candidate completed the training modules linked to the task? A fully trained candidate is strongly preferred over one who hasn’t completed the relevant training.
2. Availability (High Weight)
Does the candidate have open time slots during the period? The AI checks the candidate’s existing schedule to ensure they’re not already fully booked.
3. Task Familiarity (Medium Weight)
Has the candidate been assigned this task before? Previous experience with a task suggests higher competence.
The Ranking Output
For each uncovered task, you see a ranked list:
- 🥇 Ana — Score: 95 — Trained ✅ | Available ✅ | Familiar ✅
- 🥈 David — Score: 78 — Trained ✅ | Partially available ⚠️ | Not familiar ❌
- 🥉 Atlas (AI) — Score: 72 — Has structured WIs ✅ | Always available ✅ | No training needed ✅
AI Agents in Coverage Ranking
AI agents are included in coverage ranking when:
- The task has structured Work Instructions (the AI can execute them)
- The agent has the task assigned or could be assigned
- This enables 24/7 coverage with no human overtime
Making Coverage Decisions
The AI provides suggestions, but managers make the final call:
- Review the ranked candidates
- Consider factors the AI might not see (team dynamics, priorities)
- Assign coverage per-task or per-shift
- AI agents fill gaps where structured WIs exist
Key benefit: The Coverage Ranker eliminates the guesswork from coverage decisions. Instead of manually checking who’s trained and available, BFF tells you instantly.
