The Connection: Training → Coverage
When a team member requests time off, someone needs to cover their tasks. BFF’s AI Coverage Ranker automatically suggests the best candidates, and training completion is one of the key ranking factors.
How the Ranking Works
The BFFOrchestrator’s Coverage Ranking AI evaluates potential replacements using three factors:
| Factor | Weight | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Training Completion | High | Has the candidate completed the training required for the task? |
| Availability | High | Is the candidate available during the needed time slots? |
| Task Familiarity | Medium | Has the candidate performed this task before? |
The Impact on Coverage Decisions
Candidate A: Trained + Available
Ranked highest — this person has completed the training and has open schedule slots. They’re the ideal replacement.
Candidate B: Trained + Busy
Ranked medium — trained but has schedule conflicts. The manager may need to rearrange their schedule.
Candidate C: Untrained + Available
Ranked lower — available but hasn’t completed the training. They can cover in an emergency, but might need a quick refresher.
Improving Your Coverage Score
As a team member, completing training for tasks outside your usual assignments makes you a more versatile team member. During coverage scenarios, you’ll be ranked higher.
Manager Actions
When reviewing coverage suggestions:
- See the ranking score for each candidate
- Check the training status indicator
- Review schedule availability
- Assign coverage with confidence
Tip: Encourage cross-training across your team. The more people trained on each task, the more resilient your operations become during absences.
