Where Notifications Live

Notifications have their own home in the sidebar: the Pings group, which contains two pages:

  • Notifications — your personal feed of everything that affects you
  • Alerts — Impact Cascade Alerts for documents you own

There is no top-bar bell; head to Pings → Notifications. The page subtitle shows your unread count (or “All caught up!”) and a Live indicator confirming real-time updates are connected — new notifications appear without refreshing.

Notification Types

TypeWhen You Receive It
Task AssignedA task is assigned to you
Cascade AlertA document linked to one you own was republished
Document ChangedA document linked to one of your tasks was republished
Re-ack RequiredA document you acknowledged was republished — your version-scoped sign-off is now stale
Reading AssignedYou’ve been given a new Required Reading assignment
Time-OffYour time-off request is approved or denied
Schedule / CoverageYour time blocks change or coverage is assigned to you
Workflow StatusA workflow step you’re part of needs attention

The three QMS types — Document Changed, Re-ack Required, and Reading Assigned — are how change control reaches you personally. See Completing Your Required Reading for what each one means for your reading list.

Managing Notifications

Filtering and Marking as Read

  • Toggle between All and Unread with the filter pills
  • Click a notification to mark it as read
  • Use Mark All Read to clear everything at once

Quick Actions

Many notifications carry a shortcut straight to the right page:

Cascade AlertView Alert → (opens the Alerts page)
Reading Assigned / Document ChangedView Reading → (opens Required Reading)
Re-ack RequiredRe-acknowledge → (opens Required Reading)

Notifications vs. Alerts

The two Pings pages serve different roles:

  • Notifications tell you something happened that affects you — a task, a reading assignment, a stale acknowledgement
  • Alerts tell you a document you own needs review after a connected document changed, with acknowledge/resolve/dismiss handling (see Understanding Cascade Alerts and Severity Levels)

Tip: Don’t let Re-ack Required notifications sit. Until you re-sign the new version, your training record shows you as current only on the old one — and tasks governed by that document will flag the gap.
